Temporary Local Rules

PREFERRED LIES – General Area

1, A rule allowing the preferred option to use mats has been introduced in the "General Area".

Note :-You do not have to use the mat entirely during the round for every fairway shot however your committee recommend using a mat to protect the course.

2, The rule allowing "Pick and Place" in the "General Area" cut to fairway length is continued.

In either option place within 6 inches no nearer the hole

  • Ball must not be nearer the hole
  • Must be in the General Area
  • Player may clean ball
  • Rule Reference 14/2/b
  • The ball must be replaced by setting it down on the required spot and letting it go so that t stays on that spot

You are however reminded that a ball coming to rest in a track made by a tractor or mower under the Rules of Golf-Definitions is not ground under repair: unless it is an exceptional deep rut

Penalty for breach of local rule

 Match play -Loss of hole

 Stroke play- 1 Stroke

For full definition and instructions the rule are displayed in the Pro Shop, on the notice board by the first tee..

These rules are implemented to allow qualifying competitions to be played whilst the course is still recovering from the extreme wet winter weather

GENERAL AREA– not cut to fairway length

A ball that is embedded may be lifted, cleaned and dropped from knee height, without penalty, as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole.

Relief is also allowed for a ball lying in mud caused by heavy traffic areas.

Relief is also allowed for a ball lying in casual water or when taking your stance you are standing in casual water.

The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course in the General Area.

Note: A ball is “embedded” when it is in its own pitch-mark and part of the ball is below the level of the ground. A ball does not necessarily have to touch the soil to be embedded (e.g. grass, loose impediments and the like may intervene between the ball and the soil).

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULE

MATCH PLAY-LOSS OF HOLE

STROKE PLAY-TWO STROKES
