Temporary Local Rules

PREFERRED LIES

THE FOLLOWING TEMPORARY LOCAL RULE WILL APPLY FROM COMMENCEMENT OF PLAY ON Tuesday 1st January 2019

When a player’s ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball, or another ball, within one club length. The ball must not be placed nearer to the hole than the reference point, i.e. the position of the original ball.

This rule applies whether you are using a mat or not.

Please note that the use of a mat in areas other than areas cut to fairway height, i.e. the rough, is not permitted.

With immediate effect a player may mark, lift, clean and drop their ball in the rough within six inches of the reference point of the original ball not nearer the hole.

Please note that you must now drop from knee height, dropping from shoulder height and playing the ball incurs a 1 shot penalty.

GUR RELIEF FROM DRAINAGE WORKS ON HOLES 5 & 6

The drainage workings on the 5th and 6th Fairways are now deemed as ground under repair from which play is prohibited. If a players ball lies in the area, or if it interferes with the player’s stance or the area of his intended swing the player must take relief under Rule 16--1b.

RULE 16-1.b(i)

“The player must lift the ball and drop it without penalty, within one club-length of and not nearer the hole than the nearest point of relief.

The nearest point of relief must not be in a penalty area or on a putting green. When the ball is dropped within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, the ball must first strike a part of the course at a spot that avoids interference by the condition and is not in a penalty area and not on a putting green”

The ball may be cleaned when lifted.
